The fully-funded Scholarships at Montreal University for the class of 2022-2023 are now open for admissions for all students of different degree levels and disciplines.

The Montreal University has set different application fees for various programs. For undergraduate and graduate studies the application fee is fixed at $109.50. The application fee for a course based short program is $24.20, whereas, it is set at $11.70 for admission in a postdoctoral fellowship.

Acceptance Rate of Montreal University is between 40-50%

The Montreal University has not issued a specified figure as its acceptance rate. However, they’ve indicated that the acceptance rate varies between 40 to 50%. According, to the QS World University Rankings 2021, the Montreal University ranks at 118th globally while it comes 4th nationwide.

Montreal University Require IELTS or not?

A variety of Canadian scholarships are available at the University of Montreal at the undergraduate and graduate levels. The Montreal scholarships are initiated by the university itself with some being funded by external donors.

The scholarships provide a number of benefits to overseas students keeping in mind their financial hardships. The most prominent and highly valued initiatives include:

  • University of Montreal Exemption Scholarship for International Students

This initiative is purely for international students. It provides students exemption from tuition fees. The students holding a study permit, enrolled in a full-time program and not benefiting from any other exemption are eligible for this particular initiative.

For undergraduate programs the scholarship is divided into three tiers. For Level A it is valued at $12,465.60 per year. For Level B it is valued at $5,940.90 per year and for Level C it is valued at $2,078.10 per year.

For Masters an exemption of $9 787,95 is provided each year across three sessions. For PhD programs the exemption is valued at $21,038.13 per year and can be extended for the full course length. These scholarships are purely decided on academic basis and merits.

  • Doctoral Scholarships at Montreal University

Numerous scholarships are handed out primarily on the basis of academic excellence at the doctoral level. This scholarship is awarded upon admission to students who enroll for a full-time program of 4 years. A scholarship valued at $7,000 is given out to Masters students who are to undertake the PhD program at the Montreal University. However, the Masters degree must be completed from the Montreal University.

  • Merit Scholarships from the Quebec Government

The Quebec Government provides scholarships purely merit-based to international applicants. These scholarships being funded by the government have a relatively higher stake. It is available for university as well as college level.

At the doctoral level the program is valued at $25,000 for up to 3 years. However, an extension of 1 year can be provided. In that case monthly allowances of $1,000 are initiated. For postdoctoral level it is valued at $35,000 for one year and cannot be renewed. For short courses it is valued at $3,000 per month for up to four months.

  • Gaston- Miron Scholarships

This is a scholarship program that enables the students to carry out research internships on the Quebec literature and culture. It is a paid internship opportunity valued at $5,000 with an additional grant valued at $1,500 awarded to some interns based on performance. To be eligible the students must be in the 2nd or 3rd cycle of their university program. The deadline for application is 3rd June, 2022.

Documents Required for Admission at Montreal University

The documents to be submitted must be in the PDF format. The documents must be uploaded through the online admissions portal for Montreal University. The following is the list of documents that you need to submit:

  • Academic Transcripts
  • Past Exam Results/ Grades
  • Information regarding previous degrees/diplomas. They may be failed or passed
  • Letter of Reference
  • English/ French Language Proficiency Test Results as accepted by the university

Choose the program you wish to apply for, verify the eligibility criteria, attach the supporting documents and submit your application. Application Deadline of Montreal University:

The Montreal University has three intake windows- summer, winter and fall. For the fall window the deadline for both undergraduate and graduate programs is 1st February. For the winter intake the undergraduate admissions close out on 1st November while the graduate admissions close out on 1st September. For summer admissions the close out window is 1st February for graduate students.
