What is the Eiffel Excellence Scholarship Program?
The French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs formed the Eiffel Excellence Scholarship Program to help French universities of higher learning to draw on top international students to their master’s and Ph.D. programs.
The Eiffel Scholarship supports aspirants up to 25 years old from developing economies for Master’s level programs and candidates up to 30 years old from developing and industrialized countries for Ph.D. level programs, providing opportunities to prospective foreign decision-makers in the private and government sectors in key focus study areas.
Eiffel Scholarship Fund:
The Eiffel scholarship recipients for the Master’s level receive a monthly stipend of €1,181, plus additional services like international and domestic transportation, insurance, housing searches, cultural activities, etc.
Eiffel scholarship recipients at the doctoral level receive a monthly stipend of €1,700 plus additional services like international and domestic transportation, insurance, housing searches, cultural activities, etc.
Tuition fees for both education levels of the program are not covered by the Eiffel Excellence program.
What is the Eligibility Criteria?
- For this fully-funded opportunity in Europe, only international applicants are welcome to apply.
- If you’re an aspirant from Europe, but not in France, then you are eligible to apply.
- At minimum you must be 25 years for a scholarship spot for a Master’s degree.
- For a Ph.D. degree, you must be 30 years old or older.
- You may need language proficiency in English or French, however, most French colleges take admissions without language proficiency proofs, such as IELTS or TOEFL.
How to Apply for Scholarships in France?
Your first step will be to get in touch with the campus France in your home country or the Cooperation and Cultural Action Department of the French Embassy, who will be able to support and counsel you on your academic ambitions.
Then, you will reach out to the foreign relations department of a French institution through its website, e-mail, or phone to inquire about the requirements and deadlines for submitting an application. It is up to you to select the college or institution that perfectly serves your study objectives in France.
All French higher education institutions are eligible to apply, meaning your application will go through the institutions for final shortlisting.
The second stage will be to wait for the institution to accept and support your Eiffel scholarship application. Your application is submitted online by the school through the relevant Campus France website.
Applications sent directly by students, or international institutions will not stand eligible.
Are There Any English Language Requirements for Eiffel Scholarships?
The universities will guarantee that non-French-speaking applicants’ language skills fulfill the standards of the academic program when pre-selecting non-French-speaking aspirants.
Admission to English and French language-delivered programs is available at French universities. Candidates for the Eiffel Scholarships Program must review the entry criteria of the university to which they are applying.
You can include language exams such as IELTS, Duolingo, or TOEFL in your supporting documents.

The Eiffel scholarships’ two primary academic areas encompass the following seven subject areas for the Masters and Doctorate degrees:

What to Expect in Terms of Enrollment?
You can expect your applications to be submitted by French higher education institutions to the Eiffel program to agree to enroll you in courses resulting in a master’s degree. The institution can also enroll you in an engineering program or a joint doctoral program involving joint guidance of a dissertation and/or dual degree in collaboration with a partner institution oversea.
How Long Does the Eiffel Scholarship Last?
Master’s level
- a maximum of 12 months when enrolling in second year
- a maximum of 24 months when enrolling in first year
- a maximum of 36 months for the completion of an engineering degree
Doctorate level
The Eiffel scholarship is granted for a period of 12 months in France.
When’s the Deadline for Eiffel Scholarships?
If you haven’t started working on your application, then you must because the opening call for applicants is October 3rd and the deadline for sending in your submissions is January 10th, 2023. You can expect hearing back on confirmation or rejection by the first week of April, 2023.
